IGHRAKPATA, OTHERS ASSUME DUTIES AT IRS HEADQUARTERS IN WARRI, SUE FOR SUPPORT OF CRITICAL STAKEHOLDERS.

The newly inaugurated Chairman and Executive Directors of the board of Delta State Internal Revenue Service, IRS, have assumed duties at the Corporate Headquarters of the service in Warri.

Chairman of the revenue board, Hon Solomon Ighrakpata, who briefed journalists minutes after assumption of duty, urged every taxable adult and entity to endeavour to pay their tax as no man is above the law.

Hon Ighrakpata and his team who were conducted round various offices at the corporate headquarters by the Service Director of Administration, Mrs A. A. Ogbobine, said they are committed to the mandate given to them, disclosing that the Enforcement Unit of the Service will be strengthened to ensure that tax defaulters are prosecuted.

The IRS Chairman, stated that adequate enlightenment would be carried out for Deltans to understand the need for them to pay their taxes in achieving the needed tax expansion for the state that will help the Oborevwori administration to actualise its MORE Agenda.

The former Lawmaker who is the immediate past Deputy Chief Whip of the Delta State Assembly and Vice Chairman, House Committee on Public Account , urged members of the board and staff to brace up for the task ahead as there will be no room for laxity.

Ighrakpata said hard work will be highly appreciated and sued for the support of all, including critical stakeholders.

Working with Hon Ighrakpata to achieve the tax expansion mandate needed for the development of the state are Dr Frank Nwugo, Executive Director Operations, Kelly Oghenekevwe, Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Collins Iwebunor, Executive Director, ICT and Corporate Development and Hon Orezi Esievo as Executive Director, Legal Services.

The team led by Hon Solomon Ighrakpata were screened and confirmed by the Delta State House of Assembly on July 18, 2023.

They were subsequently inaugurated on Friday, July 21, 2023, by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori with a clear mandate to expand the State tax net by bringing in more businesses in the informal sector
