SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENT: A TRIUPH OF LIGHT OVER DARKNESS … ONWO

The Member Representing Isoko South 11 Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Ferguson Onwo, has predicted uninterrupted socio-economic growth in the state in the next three years.

Reacting to the Friday’s Supreme Court judgement in an appeal by candidates of three opposition parties in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Delta State against the winner and Governor of the state, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Onwo said the legal battles was a distraction to good governance.

According to the Lawmaker, now that the storm is over, all focus is now on the Advancing Delta Project of the state government which the victorious Governor has promised and prepared to deliver to Deltans.

“The storm is over with the Supreme Court judgement. The three appeals by gubernatorial candidates of APC, SDP and LP were throw out. I must thank God for His love for Delta State”, He said.

Onwo who is the immediate past Majority Leader of the Assembly and now Chairman House Committee on Health, felicitated the Governor and his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme as well as the PDP family and the people of Delta State for the Supreme Court victory.

Saying that the Oborevwori’s MORE agenda has captured the compelling needs of Deltans at this point in the life of the state, the Lawmaker said the support of every critical stakeholders was needed for the Governor to succeed.

He stated that the State Legislature is poised to effectively play its key role in advancing the state’s economic growth and social development.

Onwo assured enhanced oversight of the health sector by his led Assembly Committee towards achieving the dream of the state government in the sector.

“I congratulate our Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, our party, PDP and Deltans for the victory.

“I assure you that now that the storm is over, focus would be on good governance of the state which the Governor has promised Deltans.

”As a human being, it is natural that he would be distracted no matter how small. 38 litigations by the records from the date he indicated interest to govern the state.

“I thank God for his life and for providing him the wherewithal to wider through the storm.

“Once again, on behalf of my family and constituents, I congratulate the Governor over the victory and celebrate with Deltans on God’s kindness upon the State.

“The judgment was indeed a triumph of light over darkness”, Onwo stated.
