EID EL-KABIR: CONFERENCE OF SPEAKERS CHAIRMAN GUWOR FELICITATES MUSLIMS, URGES SACRIFICE AND NATIONAL UNITY

The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has felicitated Muslim faithfuls across the country on the occasion of Eid el-Kabir celebration.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker urged Nigerians to embrace the values of sacrifice, unity, and compassion at all times.

Rt Hon Guwor who is the Speaker of the Delta State Assembly, stated that the celebration offers an opportunity for reflection and renewed commitment to national harmony.

He noted that as leaders at the sub-national level, members of the Conference would continue to draw inspiration from these ideals in advancing good governance and inclusive development.

The Conference Chairman called on Nigerians to use the season to pray for peace, security, and prosperity, and to extend acts of kindness to the less privileged.

“Eid el-Kabir reminds us of the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, faith, and compassion, the values that strengthen our unity and guide our service to the people.

“May the spirit of sacrifice inspire generosity and support for one another. I wish all Muslim faithfuls a peaceful, joyous, and blessed celebration. Eid Mubarak,” Guwor added.

Muslims worldwide are marking Eid al-Adha, also known as Eid el-Kabir or the Festival of Sacrifice to commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail in obedience to God, before a ram was provided for sacrifice instead.

Observances typically include morning congregational prayers, the Qurbani animal sacrifice, and sharing the meat with family, friends, and those in need.
