Delta SUBEB, UBEC Schedule Training For 100 Education Managers On Climate Change, Greening Curriculum

The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, D-SUBEB in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, has scheduled a 3-Day Capacity-Building Workshop for 100 education managers drawn from the 25 Local Government Areas of the state.

The workshop, themed “Enhancing the Implementation of Climate Change and Greening Curriculum,” is aimed at promoting environmentally responsible schools by strengthening the integration of climate change education and environmental sustainability into teaching and learning through practical activities.

A statement signed by the Executive Chairman of D-SUBEB, Hon. Samuel O. Mariere, says the workshop will hold from Monday, 3rd to Wednesday, 5th August, 2026 at Gares Place Hotel, No. 174 Ughelli/Patani Road, beside AJ Eatery, Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area, beginning at 10:00 a.m. daily.

Hon. Mariere explained that activities lined up for the first day will include a seminar, awareness campaign, and tree-planting session at Oharisi Primary School, Ughelli, to drive home the message of environmental responsibility.

The Subeb Boss noted that the initiative is part of efforts by SUBEB and UBEC to equip headteachers and teachers with the requisite knowledge and skills to mainstream climate change and greening education in basic schools across Delta State.

The Executive Chairman further stated that the workshop is residential and strictly by invitation, with participants carefully selected to ensure representation from all LGAs.

Hon. Mariere urged participants to take full advantage of the training to become agents of change in their schools and communities.
