2027: Ojo Strengthens APC Grip In Ukwuani LGA With Obidient Defectors

The APC 5/5 mass mobilization campaign in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State received a major boost on Monday as the driving force behind the Obidient Movement in Umutu declared total support for Consultant to the State Government on Health, Hon. (Dr.) Alphonsus Chukwutem Ojo.

The group, operating under the platform of “Ofu Obi Youths Group”, dumped the Obidient Movement and pledged total commitment to Hon. Ojo’s political agenda and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Chairman, Eze Ossai, said the group was formed in 2022 when it became clear that the then ruling PDP in the state would not favor Hon. Ojo’s political ambition.

According to him, they had hoped Dr. Ojo would join the Labour Party to actualize the ambition but when he didn’t, they aligned with the Obidient Movement to challenge the PDP.

Ossai stated that they have now decided to join APC en masse to support Hon. Ojo’s Mass Mobilization for APC 5/5 in Ukwuani LGA in the 2027 general elections.

He added that their love and support for Ojo is rooted in his consistent empowerment programmes and job facilitation for constituents in both public and private sectors.

“Otu Ofu Obi will follow Hon Ojo through APC 5/5 in 2027 with religious commitment”, Ossai assured.

Receiving the group in Umutu, Ojo described the mass movement as a significant breakthrough for the APC in Ukwuani, noting that strong political structures are built from the grassroots.

The former lawmaker who represented Ukwuani Constituency in the State Assembly for ten years commended the group for their courage and urged them to strengthen APC presence at polling unit level through door-to-door campaigns across Umutu, Ukwuani and Ndokwa nation at large.

“I realized after the 2023 elections that this group was behind the Obidient Movement in Umutu that rattled PDP,” he said.

Hon. Ojo explained that the outstanding leadership qualities of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori have made the campaign for his reelection easier.

Stressing that the Governor has recorded impactful achievements in several sectors of the state, the renowned medical doctor and politician said his second term in office will usher in greater prosperity for Deltans.

He emphasized that the “Renewed Hope for M.O.R.E” mantra of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori is on course, pointing out the need for massive support for all APC candidates in the forthcoming general election.

“NELFUND, increased allocations to states and LGAs, tax reforms, regional development, and the proposed State Police are evidence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration’s impact”, Ojo said.

Continuing, he added: “Governor Sheriff Oborevwori must be commended for his visible performance through the M.O.R.E Agenda. We must support him for greater development. I also call for massive support for former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for Senate as his experience would be an asset to the National Assembly.”

Ojo also canvassed for the re-election of Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi and Hon. Chukwudi Dafe, to consolidate on their achievements in Ndokwa nation and Ukwuani Constituency respectively.

He charged members of the Ofu Obi Youths Group to work closely with all APC stakeholders, stressing “there is much to gain when we deliver APC 5/5 as a united entity”.
