The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has called on Christians to be involved in the electoral and governance processes in deciding who occupies elective and appointive positions to drive perfection at all levels.
Rt Hon Oborevwori while speaking on Monday at a lecture organised by Christ Embassy Church, Summit, Asaba to mark Reachout Nigeria 2020 and to Commemorate the 60th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria, commended the courage of Christ Embassy Church for the laudable initiative, which it has taken upon itself to provide alternative platform for people to contribute to the national narrative of the country.

” Permit me to say a special thank you to Rev. ( Dr ) Chris Oyakhilome, the President of Love World Ministry ( Aka Christ Embassy Church ), the presiding Pastor, Pastor Afolabi Oketunji, his lovely and adorable wife, Pastor Oge, and the leadership of the church for inviting me to be the Chairman of this auspicious occasion. Thank you Pastor for this privilege and kind gesture. I am indeed very grateful for this opportunity”, he said.
Rt.Hon Oborevwori stated that the topic of the lecture; “Nigeria: Perfection is Possible ” , is timely, adding that it is his fervent prayer that the programme will renew our minds and position us rightly to triumph over imperfection.
According to him; “I have absolute confidence in our guest lecturer and other resource persons who are ready to do justice to this all important subject matter”.
He also said that; ” Going forward, permit me also to make a clarion call on the Church in particular and Christians in general to be involved in the electoral and governance processes in deciding who occupies elective and appointive positions to drive perfection at all levels”.
“We, as a people have passed legislation that have provided a veritable platform for His Excellency, the Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa who is a worthy ambassador of the church to deliver on projects across board in our state. I therefore implore the church to be involved in providing perfect leadership”, he stated.
The Speaker used the opportunity to appreciate the role of the church in praying and supporting the Governor Okowa-led administration since inception in 2015, saying that; ” This administration is not averse to constructive criticism. It will only make us perfect”.
“I want us to take the lessons that we are going to learn from today’s lecture seriously, because the road to perfection is attainable. We may stumble, we may fall short, but we must act boldly and confront it with honesty, for with God, all things are possible”, he said.
Highlight of the ceremony was the cutting of the 60th Independence Anniversary cake.
