Delta Speaker, Oborevwori Says Good Health A Foundation for Economic Growth, Development *** Flags Off Free Medical Outreach At Isssele-Uku

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and State PDP Governorship Candidate, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday said that good health is the foundation for economic growth and development of any society.

In his remarks when he flagged of a Medical Outreach by Care Team in conjunction with Sheriff Free Medical Project for All Deltans (SHEFMEPAD) at the General Hospital, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, the Speaker said that he was impressed by the turn of people in the area for the free medical outreach

While saying that good health is the foundation for economic growth and development of any society, Rt Hon Oborevwori noted that;” This is so because, a healthy population is most productive than unhealthy one. That is why it is true that health is wealth”.

According to him; “The free medical outreach, is therefore, a support system to help our people access free medical treatment and surgeries at this challenging period when people can hardly meet their medical expenses. Although, our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has introduced the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme which has done and continue to do a lot for Deltans. I want to urge all of you to take advantage of this outreach programme”.

The State PDP Governorship Candidate who was accompanied by members of the House of Assembly said that currently, the O5 Initiative programme of the First Lady, Her Excellency, Dame Edith Okowa, is bringing succour to many sickle cell patients and others with eye sight problems in the state.

“As we flag off this programme today in Aniocha North, it is my hope that no Local Government Area will be left out. Furthermore, both groups in this outreach, the Sheriff Care and Sheriff Free Medicare Project boast of seasoned medical experts, with specialization in different fields”, he said.

“Our mission for M.O.R.E. will continue to contribute our quota in assisting the vulnerable and less privileged in the society. Tell everyone who has a medical situation to take advantage of the outreach from today till Sunday, 17th of July, 2022”, the Speaker added.

The Speaker who had earlier paid homage to Aniocha North Traditional Rulers in the Palace of HRM Obi Nduka (MNSE), the Obi of Isssele-Uku Kingdom, lauded the effort of Sheriff Care and Sheriff Free Medicare Project For All Deltans (SHEFMEPAD) for making the outreach programme a reality and prayed God Almighty to reward their act of kindness and support for the project.

The Chairman of SHEFMEPAD TEAM, Dr Awunor Alexander Chidubem and the Secretary Sheriff Care Team, Dr Onochie Michael Ochonogor, had in their separate remarks threw light on the three days free medical/Surgical outreach flag off in the area.
