All is set for the 30th Quarterly Meeting of the Management of the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, with Executive Chairmen of State Universal Basic Education Boards, SUBEBs, scheduled to hold in Asaba, Delta State from Monday, August 10 to Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The high-level meeting, which will bring together education stakeholders from across the 36 states and the FCT, is being hosted by the Delta State Government and the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, D-SUBEB.
With the theme: “Repositioning Basic Education in Nigeria to Optimize Investments and Impact”, the 4-day meeting seeks to secure a shared commitment by UBEC and SUBEBs to enhance existing investments, strengthen collaboration and accountability, and drive practical interventions that deliver measurable outcomes in basic education.
Highlighting activities for the meeting, the Chairman of D-SUBEB, Hon. Samuel Mariere, said the opening ceremony would feature keynote addresses by the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Hajia Aisha Garba, the Minister of Education, the Minister of State for Education, and the Host Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside goodwill messages from other stakeholders and development partners.
According to Hon. Mariere, the meeting holding at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, is expected to produce actionable resolutions that will strengthen UBEC-SUBEB collaboration, improve fund utilization, and reposition basic education delivery across Nigeria for greater impact.
As part of the programme, a Gala Night will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., providing participants with an opportunity to network and strengthen partnerships.
The hosting of the quarterly meeting underscores Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to advancing quality basic education in the state and providing a platform for collaborative efforts that will enhance educational development across Nigeria.
