Delta Assembly Passes Amended Traditional Rulers Council & Chiefs Law

A bill for a law to amend the schedule of the Traditional Rulers Council and Chiefs Law of Delta State, has been read the third time and passed on the floor of the State House of Assembly.

The motions for the third reading of the bill and its subsequent passage was moved by the House Majority Leader, Hon Tim Owhefere and adopted at plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

The amendment schedule was to insert in the principal law “Beneku”, under the column for clans in Ndokwa East local government area and include Eze-Ndem of Beneku kingdom under the column for Traditional Rulers.

The House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs that scrutinized the amendment bill had submitted the report, which was adopted for further legislative actions.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Felix Anira said members had met and examined the bill and proposed amendment for the consideration of the house.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, while reacting to the passage of the bill commended members for painstakingly working on the amendment bill.

The House adjourned plenary till Tuesday next week.
