Delta Assembly Passes Administrative Procedure Bill

Delta State Administrative Procedure Bill has been read the third time and passed on the floor of the State House of Assembly.

The passage of the bill at plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori followed a motion to that effect by the Majority Leader, Ferguson Onwo, seconded by Hon Emomotimi Guwor, Warri SouthWest and adopted.

The joint committee on Rules, Business, Legal and judicial matters and Special Committee on Bill, had presented the report on the proposed law, which was adopted for further legislative action.

The bill is for a law to improve the administration of justice by prescribing fair and transparent procedures for state administrative agencies to propose and issue regulations and related matters.

Order 12, rules 82 and 83 of the House was suspended to enable the House take the third reading and the subsequent passage.

Speaking shortly after the passage of the bill, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori lauded the lawmakers for their diligence in the passage of the bill.

According to him, the passage of the bill will help in strengthening the rule of law and administrative processes in the State.

The House adjourned plenary to Tuesday, next week.
