COVID-19 Delta Commissioner Warns Market Sellers/Traders  Against Price Hike

Worried about the daily increase in the prices of foodstuffs in the markets across Delta state and price hike of all kinds of Covid 19 protective kits the Commissioner for Trade and Investments Hon Chika Ossai has warned market women and traders of protective kits to as a matter of urgency reduce the cost of their goods or face unpleasant consequences.

The Commissioner ,in a statement issued through his Special Assistant on Media Mr Chuks Eboagwu frowned at the situation where traders and market women skyrocketed all prices of food stuffs in the local markets and protective kits of Covid 19, due to the stay at home directive to control the outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic.
Hon Chika Ossai said globally the prices of food stuffs and protective kits are low since the outbreak of corona virus pandemic, but wonder why in Nigeria the prices are going higher just for no visible reason.
He advised traders not to add to the suffering of the masses through the incessant increase in the prices of foodstuffs in the local market adding that Senator Ifeanyi Okowa administration is working round the clock to Control and combat this deadly diseases that is ravaging the world.
The Trade and Investments Commissioner who expressed joy that Delta state has not recorded any case of Covid 19, said if the Price of foodstuffs is not control by leaders of various market, government will have no other option than to set up a Taskforce on regulation of prices of foodstuffs.
He commended Deltans for obeying the stay at home directive and urged them to shun panic buying as the situation will soon Over.
He therefore ,urged market women, dealers of foodstuffs and producers of all kinds of Covid 19 protective kits to have a rethink and guide against price hike at this time of Covid 19 pandemic where all hands supposed to be on desk to stay safe and overcome the deadly virus ravaging the world
